Our Mission:

To explore, promote, and preserve the history, heritage and culture of the people of West and its surrounding communities.

About us

The History of West Museum is located in historic downtown West, Texas. (See Geo. W. Brown building in the photo at the right).

In March of 2013, the Museum Board of Directors purchased a historic building in downtown West, Texas for the museum. With the completion of renovations to the interior and exterior, the 1896 building has been beautifully restored to house the museum.

Exhibits showcase the early ancestors, businesses, churches, city leaders, farming and ranching, the military, and the impact of Czech culture on the town.

A special gallery gives tribute to the heroes of the April 17, 2013, fertilizer plant explosion.

The History of West Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Donations are greatly appreciated.
